H1B Visa Quota Update from the USCIS
Updated April 9th, 2010
The USCIS issued the first H1B visa quota/cap count for this year.
The H1B quota / cap for this year is set at a total of 85,000
The current number of H1B visas that have been filed is: 19,100
This means 65,900 H1B visas are still available and the USCIS continues to accept new applications
This is GREAT news for people who want an H1B visa this year. No Deadline - No Lottery Selection - More Time Available
Thousands of H1B visas are still available now - Start Here
The lower number of filings is comprised of a number of factors this year including: 1) much lower volume of Foreign nationals trying to obtain H1B visas (some reports estimate 40-60% lower than previous years) 2) USCIS requirements for 3rd party consulting firms to demonstrate Employer-Employee relationship (Tip: apply for H1B jobs at 'end-companies' and NOT the 'middle-man' consulting firms and agencies - if you need help - Click Here) 3) TARP recipient companies filing restrictions 4) still a slower economy (but one that is improving) 5) theMedia rumour-mill surrounding the H1B visa program putting people off trying
